Insurance questions in Gulf Hills
Straight answers to what local homeowners, drivers and business owners ask us most. Don’t see your question? Call us at (228) 872-3881 and we’ll talk it through.
My home backs up to the bayou. What should I know about flood insurance?
Waterfront lots in Gulf Hills are among the addresses most likely to need it. A flood policy covers the home and, if you choose, its contents, and it is separate from your homeowners and wind coverage. An elevation certificate can help us find the right price.
Are docks, piers and boathouses covered?
Coverage is limited. Homeowners policies often treat a dock as another structure but restrict or exclude wind and wave damage, and flood policies generally do not cover docks or piers at all. Ask us what your policy says before you rely on it.
What happens if a tree falls on my house in a storm?
Damage to the home is generally covered, subject to your wind or named-storm deductible. Removing the tree is covered only up to a set limit, and a tree that falls without hitting anything may not be covered. On a wooded Gulf Hills lot, those limits are worth knowing.
Is my golf cart covered by my homeowners policy?
Usually only while it is on your own property. If you drive it on neighborhood streets or to the course, a separate golf cart policy is the reliable way to cover liability and damage to the cart.
